NATO Summit: Europe must 'project decency, credibility' to 'earn respect, attract partners'

He sees his job as having to hug Donald Trump clothes and flatter him so to keep him on board. It's not clear whether he's actually achieving results in doing so. He's being more and more criticised for lacking basic decency.

This is a very European and I would add French perspective. But if we are to raise our public opinions, awareness that we actually have to rearm while keeping the Americans on board so that they don't pull the plug brutally, then I think we have to project decency as a way to be respected by the American president and also to project credibility in terms of deterrence to our adversaries and attractivity to our partners.
